International Student Regulations of Chongqing Normal University

 

Rules of conduct

    1. Study hard and complete required courses.
    2. Obey all the provisions, regulations and procedures contained in Chongqing Normal University Rules.
    3. Respect the faculty and staff.
    4. Respect your fellow students and cultivate friendship between each other.
    5. Participate in physical education activities and pay attention to hygiene.
    6. Have right attitude toward study and be on good behavior.
    7. Maintain the civilized environment and the normal order of the campus.
    8. Observe the laws, statutes of the Chinese government.
    9. Respect Chinese customs and habits.
    10. Maintain and promote friendship and unity among the people of all the countries.

 

Regulations and Procedures on Admission and Departure

 

A). Admission
    1. The ¡°Letter of Enrollment¡±, ¡°JW 202 Form¡± issued by the university are compulsory for admission.
    2. Students are required to attend the orientation lecture, which will give general information about CNU
and its rules, regulations and procedures.
    3. Pay the tuition, registration fee and teaching materials fee in full at the International Students Office by
registration.
    4. Reservation in advance is compulsory for those who would like to stay in the Apartment for International
Students and the Chinese Students Dormitory. Students with reservation will be assigned rooms and supplied
with beddings and other articles.? Payment in advance and bond are required.
    5. Approved health certificates will be accepted. Those who do not have health certificates, or do not go
through all the items in the certificates or do not accord with demands must undergo a further medical
examination. A student whose health does not meet the requirements must leave the University and pay for
his/her own transportation home.
    6. Students with ¡®X¡¯ visa in Chongqing are required to buy insurance of the Comprehensive Insurance Plan
of Foreign Students.
    7. Students will be arranged into classes according to the results of the Chinese language proficiency test.
    8. Students will be given a briefing on the ¡°Law of the PRC on Entry and Exit of Aliens¡± and other laws and
decrees concerned by the Chongqing Public Security Bureau or its representative.
    9. The International Students Office will help those international students who hand in needed documents on
time to get the resident permits and the concerned documents at the beginning of the semester. Otherwise,
students missing the time should get them done in Chongqing Public Security Bureau by themselves. The
students should bear the fees concerned.
    10. The International Students Office will issue student ID for new international students after registration.
The old students must go through the registration procedures at the International Students Office with his/her
student ID within the first week of the new semester.

B. Departure from the University

    1.Students who leave the University (transferring, leave-of-absence, discontinuation of schooling or
graduation) must draw a Clearance Form from the International Students Office and go through the clearance
procedures in accordance with the regulation, balance the account and return all university properties, library
cards, and I.D. Cards, etc.
    2.Students are required to report to the International Students Office when leaving China during the period of
study.

Regulations on Teaching and Studying


    1.Students are expected to be fully aware of the class rules. Regular attendance is required. Students are
required not to miss class, to be late for class or to leave class before it is over.
    2.Proper Procedures are compulsory for sick/personal-leave. Permission should be requested from class
instructor for four or less class periods of missing class or from the International Students Office for over four
class periods of missing class.
    3.By missing 30% of the total classes, those students should be regarded as flunking out themselves without
refund of tuition. The university shall inform the Public Security Bureau to cancel their students¡¯ visa.     4.International students have the same holidays as the Chinese students. No holidays will be granted on a
festival or holiday of the student¡¯s home country.
    5.Students who study more than one semester should come back to register on the required time at the
beginning of new semester. Failing to register on time without permission of the International Students Office,
they will be regarded as absence. A student will be struck off the school rolls if he/she fails to register within one
month.
    6.The main purpose for international students at the university is to study. Approved by the International
Students Office, the students can work part time in the fields related to their own programs on the basis of not
affecting their study.

Classrooms Management

 

  1. The Classrooms for International Students are exclusively for international students at Chongqing Normal
    University.? Unauthorized persons are not allowed to enter the classroom.
  2. The facilities and equipments cannot be removed without the permission of the International Students
    Office.
  3. No smoking, no shouting in the classroom.
  4. Keep the classroom clean all the time.
  5. No posters, advertisements and other things not related to teaching and studying can be left in the
    classroom without the approval of the International Students Office.
  6. Turn off the mobile phone in class.

Regulations on Dormitory

 

    1. The student dorms only accept registered students who hold ordinary passports with reservation.
    2. Rooms are assigned by the dormitory manager. Students are not allowed to change rooms without permission.
    3. Payments and bonds of the accommodation in advance are required.
    4. Those who lost the student qualification of the university are not entitled to live in the student dorms without special approval.
    5. Illegal conducts are prohibited in the dorm. None of the dorm rooms is allowed to be rented or transferred
    6. Keep the dorms clean and tidy. No pets can be kept in the apartments.
    7. No shouting, dancing and other activities which may disturb the neighbors in the dorm.
    8. Any damage of the properties should be compensated.
    9. Help to save resources. The fees of water, electricity and gas should be paid monthly at the end of each month.
    10. Obey the fire control regulation. It is forbidden to damage or un-permitted use of fire fighting equipments when there is no fire. It is not allowed to connect extra electrical wires without permission.
    11. Fireworks in the apartment is not permitted.
    12. Students who want to move out of the apartment should go through formalities in advance, otherwise, the bond will not be returned.
    13. Locks cannot be changed without permission from the International Students Office.

Regulations on Library Use

  1. Borrow books with the issued school library card, which is exclusively for the student.
  2. Obey the time limit. Renew the book if it cannot be returned at due time. Otherwise, the borrower will be fined.
  3. Take good care of the books. No scribbling, damaging or loss.
  4. Reference books cannot be taken out.
  5. Obey the concerned library regulations.
  6. Return all the borrowed books before departure from the university by the completion of study.

Other Regulations

  1. Overseas students should abide by laws and regulations of China. Legal punishment will be given to violators. Respect the customs of Chinese people.
  2. Obey the work and rest regulations of the university and maintain the nice study environment.
  3. International students¡¯ activities should aim at study and friendship. No intervening in the interior affairs of China.
  4. No illegal religious activities. The legal religious life of international students is protected by Chinese laws. It is illegal and prohibited for international students to spread religions or to disseminate religious materials among Chinese people.
  5. Approval from the International Students Office is required for any celebration ceremony held on campus. To ensure a safe and quiet environment, the following regulations should be obeyed:
    1. Hold in places appointed by school.
    2. Not later than 24: 00.
    3. Attendants are limited to overseas students and school members.
    4. No electrical power connecting privately.
  6. Take good care of the plants and facilities on campus. Maintain school safety, tidiness and serenity. No fire on the campus and no smoking in the forbidden zone.
  7. Park vehicles at appointed spots.
  8. Any violation of the above-mentioned regulations may be punished according to the university policy.

(Remarks: The regulation in Chinese versions should be regarded as the first choice if there is any contradiction between Chinese and English versions. The International Students Office of Chongqing Normal University is the only authorized organ to interpret this regulation. )
