Supported by National Tourism Bureau, this college is formed by CNU and CQ Tourism Bureau and is the first specialized second—class college. Since 1994, it has taken part in editing the textbooks planned by education bureau and won the national teaching accomplishment prize for research and practice. “The national major training basic for professional teachers” in our university becomes China—Australia and China—Germany's cooperative items for tourism teachers training base.

The college not only opens to full—time undergraduates, nondegree students and adult, self—study students, but also offers master degrees in tourism management and humanities and geography for regional tourism development. Up till now, it offers 3 specialized teaching departments—tourism planning, restaurant management, the operation of guide and travel agency, and a research center for organization and plan of tourism. Above all, there is a five—storey modern experimental system for tourism majors.
